Training Course Residential
This event is part of the teacher-training programme
at
WATC.
It is also open to experienced pupils who would like
to participate in an "Alexander intensive", and to
teachers who would like post-graduate tuition.
The Programme
Arrival
time is 4pm on Friday 20 April. After settling in,
we all meet together at 5pm for tea, introductions
and informal practical work till 6:30pm. On
Saturday, Sunday mornings breakfast will be at 8am
followed by practical work from 9:00-12:30, with a
break for coffee. The pattern of the session will be
similar to a morning on the training course, with
turns from the teachers, guided hands-on work for
teachers or senior trainees, and modules on elements
of Alexander's teachings. For prospective
teacher-trainees this provides a good "taster" of
what it is like to train at WATC.
After
lunch there will be time to go for a walk or have a
rest. In the afternoons between 4:30 and 6:30, there
will be themed workshops, CPD workshops for teachers and
guided discussions. We will organise the catering for
ourselves with everyone taking turns at cooking,
cleaning etc.; a wonderful opportunity to apply the
technique to practical tasks shared with other
people. In the evenings after dinner we can just
relax or join in some activities with others
(singing, poetry, dancing, games). Musicians are
welcome to bring their instruments. Please bring a
poem, song or story to share, if you would like to.
Departure time is 10am on Monday morning.
The teachers for this event will be
John Hunter, Dorothea Magonet, Philippa Castell and
Tim Soar.
Accommodation is mainly in shared
twin rooms. Single occupancy of a twin room is
available (see below).
The fee
for the course is £315
which includes tuition, three nights accommodation
and all meals (communal self-catering).
Full-time students are
offered a discount of 20%. AT teacher-trainees are
welcome to attend with the agreement of their Head
of Training.
The supplementary fee for
single occupancy of a twin room is £60.
Transport
Waunifor Estate is about 30 minutes drive from
Carmarthen Station. Transfers can be arranged from
and to the station at certain times. Please ask when
booking if you require this service. There will be a
small charge depending on local taxi rates.
